[FLASK] I'm not in a lab. I'm just waiting for ice cream!

I tried the whole unique concept of ice cream, liquid nitrogen ice cream!
Just taking a glance at this ice cream shop, it looks like a lab.
Once you're inside the shop, you feel as if you're in a science lab.
There are three guys wearing lab coats like pharmacists inside the small shop.
They are so busy getting orders and making ice cream. They start to make ice cream upon taking orders.

I was worried about many people queuing there. However, it was raining then. Only 5-ish people were queuing. I was hesitant to try ice cream because it was raining. There is no table inside where you can sit and have ice cream. There are tiny chairs, though. (3  chairs) I decided to try it because I don't go to Nampo-dong that often.

There are 4 flavours; milk gelato, strawberry, tiramisu and caramel.(The real names are different... more complicated) They come in 2 sizes; regular and large.
The price ranges from 3500 KRW to 5500 KRW (roughly. I don't remember everything exactly)

I ordered milk gelato and my friend strawberry.
I got mine faster than my friend's.

milk gelato flavour : very good. refreshing. soft
strawberry : you can taste the real strawberry in the ice cream itself. It's really good. Excellent.

I wanna try caramel and tiramisu flavours next time :)

This ice cream shop is 'FLASK', located near B&C bakery alley(B&C bakery has been reconstructed in another place, so what I mean is the place where the old B&C used to be)

[Jeonju] My Trip to Jeonju - part 2

We went back to Hanok Village after browsing around CheongNyeon Mall. Oh, on the way back, we stopped by Won Bakery(원제과점) just near the PoongNyeon Gate(풍년문), which is very famous for banana bread.

this one pack is 2000 KRW, cheap huh? :)

You may wonder how it tastes. If you've tried Korean Banana Milk, this banana is just like the bread version of the banana milk!

(the beautiful sunset of Jeonju. That construction is PoongNyeon Gate(풍년문))

Dinner Timeeeeeeee!

Yeaaaaaaaah! time for dinner!
We had Kalguksu(칼국수) for dinner. The shape of noodle is rectangular, but I haven't seen round one like this before. It was yummy :) (Excuse for the bad quality of the pic... it is waaaaay better than it looks, I bet!)
We ordered Mandu(만두) along with Kalguksu. Kalguksu is awesome, but Mandu is fine.(It doesn't mean that it is not good. It's delicious but not that extraordinarily)
This is the restaurant, Veteran Kalguksu(베테랑 칼국수) where we had dinner.
There were so many people and the servers seemed so busy.

A few pics of Jeonju Hanok Village at night.
It's actually more beautiful than above pics. I took those pics with Galaxy S3.

Makgeoli Time

What to do at travel night? Yup, with some alcohol :)
Go for Makgeoli(so called rice wine) in Jeonju, especially this place.
The basic served food(aka 안주 in Korean) is great, especially that snack with ice cream.
There is snack called 뻥튀기, which is made of rice powder. Between two 뻥튀기s is ice cream.
It's called 뻥스크림. OMG THIS IS AWESOME! If you want, you can have it refilled :)
For main 안주, we ordered 순대볶음.
What can I say more?
It's just awesome.

The name of this place is '누룩꽃 피는 마을'

There are more flavours of Makgeoli such as pineapple, apple, honey and etc.. I regret not tasting others as all of us were too full already...
We tried only original Makgeoli.
If you are to go there, empty your stomach to a certain extent... plz
if you wanna try the different tastes...

[Jeonju] My Trip to Jeonju - part 1

I went on a trip to Jeonju with my friends on Sunday and Monday. Inter-city bus leaves almost every an hour from Busan to Jeonju. The bus ticket costs 17,000 KRW(one-way). We planned this trip as 'food trip', and we had so much yummy food there.
It took about 10 mins by taxi to go to Hanok village(한옥마을) from Jeonju bus terminal, which costed about 4200 KRW.

Lunch

We had Ddeokgalbi(떡갈비), Bibimbap(비빔밥), and spicy noodle(비빔국수) in Eruhwa(에루화) restaurant. Jeonju is famous for Ddeokgalbi. There were so many people queuing for the Ddeokgali restaurants in Jeonju Hanok villag, most of whom seemed to be tourists like us. Luckily, we waited only for 10-15 mins.

After Dinner, we did some sightseeing, roaming around the Hanok village. It was such a sunny and warm day, which was perfect for winter trip.

Hanok Village(한옥마을)

There are many shops, cafes, restaurants, and exhibitions in Hanok Village.

Omokdae(오목대)

You can enjoy the awesome whole views of the Hanok Village from Omokdae. Just hike up the stairs for a few mins and you will reach the Omokdae, where there is a tower and 정자.

Snack

We bought Bingu as takeout on the way to our accommodation. There were too many people queuing for us to come inside the cafe. This cafe is called 'Maternal Grandmother's Skills(외할머니 솜씨)' to be translated directly, and it's very famous for 'black sesame bingsu'(흑임자빙수)

It was so GOOD! The white and green stuff is rice cake, which were very chewy! The bingsu was not that sweet because of black sesame, which is a bit different from the common bingsu. It's really good. You SHOULD try it if you love bingsu:)

Accommodation

We took some rest at our room. Oh, let me introduce the place where we stayed.
It is Guest House, whose theme is Korean traditional house, Hanok.
It is quite a pretty place. The host lady was very kind.

This is the garden.
This is the picture of the room we stayed. It is not very big, but enough for three girls to stay in.
It is the ceiling of the room. The two white balls are lamps.

They provide some loaves of bread and jam for brekkie, but we opted for another menu in a famous restaurant the next morning. In the room were a small fridge, a big tv and a table. The bathroom is very clean, and the heating system is excellent.
This is the website of the accommodation, www.한옥이야기.kr
check it out if interested.

Namun Market & CheongNyeon Mall

We bought Gilgeoriya on the way to Namun Market. There were still many people but less than before. Gilgeoriya is a half loaf of baguette bread stuffed with pizza toppings. It's a bit spicy because of onions, but it tastes pretty good!
Gilgeori means street in Korean. So, I would say Gilgeoriya is a pun-intended word meaning that gilgeoriya is food you eat while walking on the street. I think it's a witty pun.

We headed to CheongNyeon Mall(청년몰) in Namun Market(남문시장). CheongNyeon means youth in Korean. The mall is on the 2nd floof of the Namun Market. The market is very close to Hanok village. It takes about 10 mins from the entrance of the Hanok village. CheongNyeon Mall was is the market where young people open their own unique shops and sell what they made. There are cookie shop, Peruvian shop, Traditional Korean paper shop, Mexican restaurants, and etc. This mall is closed every Monday. Keep it in mind when you plan a trip to Jeonju.

I bought these little chocolate cookies :)

[ZOO COFFEE] as if you were in Safari

ZOO COFFEE is a franchise café in Korea. Its theme is 'zoo' as you can notice from its name. There are big cheetah, zebra, panda, giraffe, and tiger dolls inside.
It's a cute café.
It sells lots of beverages like coffee, tea latte, smoothies and frappe. It also sells muffin, sandwiches and honey bread.
If you like zoo and animal stuff, it's worth visiting :)

I took photos below in Christmas season as you can guess from its snowman on it.

[SeolBing/설빙] Injeolmi Bingsu

SeolBing(설빙) is a cafe franchise. It's Korean dessert cafe. It sells Bingsu(빙수), toast and other beverages from coffee to tea.
I went to a branch in Nampo-dong(남포동). It's been boom since last summer, so there were no seats last summer when I went there, and I was forced to go to another place. Many customers are tourists to Busan. There were still lots of people even though it's winter.
We ordered Injeolmi Bingsu, toast with yuja(yuzu/citron) Injeolmi toast, and two cups of Americano. (설빙 인절미빙수, 설빙 유자인절미토스트). You can order Americano at 1000 KRW if you order bingsu or toast. (Quite a good deal, huh? :))
Injeolmi is a kind of rice cake(떡). Injeolmi is white chewy rice cake with beige-coloured bean powder. You won't see if its colour is white because it's covered with bean powder.
Anyways, let me show you the yummy desserts!
It's Injeolmi Bingsu(인절미빙수)
YUMMY!
(it's nutty.(고소한 맛))

Injeolmi toast with yuja(yuzu/citron/유자) jam
YUMMY!

I love ALL, especially Bingsu!!
I can't wait to go to Seolbing cafe and try others!
